Samichlaus Bier – 14% ABV. Brewed in Austria, this is a very extraordinary beer. Only brewed one day a year, December 7th. Taste is smooth, thick, rich and sweet. Flavor is full of malts, toffee, caramel, raisins and some bread notes. Alcohol is definitely present in this brew.

Paulaner Hefe-weizen – 5.5% ABV. Brewed in Munich, Germany. Hefeweizen (German for “yeast wheat”) is a variety in which the beer is not filtered before bottling, where the yeast continues to act. Flavor is rich, wheaty with a hoppy undertone and just a touch of bitterness, and a lemony hint. Slight taste of banana, clove and some citrus.

Spaten Optimator – 7.2% ABV. Brewed in Munich, Germany. The Optimator is a doppelbock. Tastes malty and sweet with an undercurrent of hops and spice. A medium bodied mouthfeel. Superb brew with just enough alcohol to keep the party going and just enough taste to keep the party interesting.

Warsteiner Dunkel – 4.9% ABV. Brewed in Germany, this is a Munich Dunkel Lager. The flavor is a perfect balance of malts and hops. Taste of dark roasted malts with a hint of sweetness. Ends with a slightly hoppy, dry finish.

Moretti – 4.6% ABV. Brewed in Italy, Moretti is a Euro Pale Lager. Tastes of grains and pale malts with faint hop bitterness in the finish.

Peroni – 4.7% ABV. Brewed in Italy, this Euro Pale Lager smells of grassy, earthy hops; little malts and light bready notes. Taste is very similar to smell. Crisp and smooth, light to medium body, medium carbonation with a clean finish.

Skullsplitter – 8.5% ABV. Brewed in Scotland, Skullsplitter is a Scottish robust ale with a distinctive flavor. This ale is full of rich caramel maltiness, notes of raisins, and mild hops.

Triple Karmeliet – 8% ABV. Brewed in Belgium, Karmeliet has an amazingly spicy nose full of clove, grains, mild honey, sweet malts, and lots of fruit. Some floral hops present. Taste is super well-rounded. Excellent balance of sweetness and bitterness. Sweet and spicy upfront, malty middle, and a wheaty tang finish. For being an 8% Tripel, the alcohol is well-masked. Overall an extraordinary beer. My personal favorite.

St. Sebastiaan Grand Reserve – 10% ABV. Belgium Strong Pale Ale. A strong aroma of earthy yeast, bitter hops, sweet caramel, and citrus fruits. The taste mirrors the smell, but to a larger degree. Sweet, yet spicy with a mild alcohol punch. Very crisp and clean finish.

Corsendonk Abbey Brown – 7.5% ABV. Brewed in Belgium, this Abbey Brown has aromas of dark fruit, chocolate, and sweet malts. You taste what you smell, and then some. Specific hints of figs, dates, raisins, caramel, roasted malts with a nice hop balance. Alcohol is present.

Malheur 10 – 10% ABV. Brewed in Belgium, this is a Belgium Strong Pale Ale. Malheur translates to “misfortune” in English. Taste is mildly sweet, complex and a tad spicy. Flavor is full of fruits, yeast, citrus and clove notes. As it warms, the hops come out of their shell and it gets a bit spicier. Taste like Belgium!

Malheur 12 - 12% ABV. Also brewed in Belgium, this is considered a Quadrupel brew. For this high of an ABV, the alcohol is evident, but not too overwhelming. Tastes of sweet malts and mostly dark fruits; raisins and plums. Hints of natural bread flavor. Medium bodied and nicely carbonated with a dry finish.

Delirium Nocturnum – 8.5% ABV. Brewed in Belgium, this dark ale is a triple fermentation ale using 3 different yeast strains and 5 different malts. Incredibly well-balanced for an ale this high in alcohol, the bouquet has an aromatic sweetness. The body is bursting with flavors of raisins, bittersweet chocolate, and aniseed. The finish is long and develops into a hoppy aftertaste.

Delirium Tremens – 9% ABV. Tremens is a Belgium Strong Pale Ale, named “Best Beer in the World” in 1998. The smell is fruity, spicy, and hoppy. Very interesting and inviting. Good thing the taste lives up to the smell. The particular character and the unique taste of this brew result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Dangerously drinkable at any time of year, but with its 9% ABV one needs to exercise caution. Considering Delirium Tremens is Latin for “trembling madness”, commonly nicknamed “the DTs”, indicating a violent sickness induced by withdrawal after alcohol abuse. Watch out!

Floris Framboise – 3.7% ABV. Brewed in Belgium, by the same guys who brew the Delirium line, so you know this beer is a winner. Now knowing this is a fruit beer, you can expect the obvious. But this is an unusual wheat-based fruit beer that is easy to drink. “Framboise” is French for raspberries, which is the dominate flavor in this brew. But don’t go expecting a lambic, however, because that is not what this is. It is the only original Belgian White Raspberry Beer.

Floris Apple – 3.6% ABV. Yet another great brew from the Brouwerij Huyghe brewery. This beer is so smooth you would think it’s a cider. Tastes of apple and spices. Nice refreshing carbonation and sweet, but not over-the-top sweet. Great aftertaste that lingers. An enjoyable treat.

Chimay Bleue Ale – 9% ABV. Dark Ale known as Grande Reserve, Brewed in Belguim, this copper-brown beer has a creamy head and a slightly bitter taste. Considered to be the “classic” Chimay Ale, it exhibits a considerable depth of fruity, peppery character.

Lindemans Framboise – 4% ABV. A lambic beer flavored with raspberries, brewed in Belgium. Very pleasing to the nostrils and sweet to the mouth. Great starter beer.

The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, medium bodied with a silky, low carbonation.

Guinness – 4.3% ABV. Brewed in Ireland, Guinness is a porter style Irish Dry Stout. The distinctive feature in the flavor is the roasted barley which remains unfermented.

Swithwicks – 4.5% ABV. An Irish Red Ale from Ireland. Pronounced “Swithicks”, the W is silent. The taste is a sweet roasted malt with a nice hint of hops.

Kirin Ichiban – 5% ABV. Brewed in Japan, this is a Japanese Rice Lager. Ichiban is a light bodied brew that is crisp and easy going down. Finishes dry and clean, leaving just a touch of sweetness in the mouth. The rice flavor is full, but balanced against the grains. You will also find hints of semi-sweet malts in the mix. Overall a refreshing Japanese beer that pairs great with a bottle of our Saki.

Tsingtao – 4.8% ABV. Brewed in Qingdao, China, Tsingtao Lager is brewed and bottled by the Tsingtao Brewery – the 10th largest brewery in the world. This lager has a crisp, slightly malty flavor and nutty, sweet taste which compliments spicy or flavorful Asian cuisine.

Dos Equis Ambar – 4.7% ABV. Brewed in Mexico, Dos Equis Ambar is a traditional Vienna style amber lager with a rich, big flavor. Think of it as Lagers dark, moody and passionate cousin.

Modelo Especial – 6% ABV. This Mexican beer is a very light-bodied American style pale lager. Think of Corona kicked up a notch.

Red Stripe – 4.7% ABV. Brewed in Jamaica, this lager has a mild malt taste in the beginning, moving to a firm and more robust malt flavor in the middle. The finish is soft and light with a hint of hops.

New Castle – 4.7% ABV. An English Brown Ale brewed in England. Nutty, caramel smell along with the taste.
